Death Track: Resurrection is a computer racing game developed by SkyFallen Entertainment and published by 1C Company. It is the sequel to the 1989 game Deathtrack. Outside of the CIS, the game was published by 505 Games in the European Union and Aspyr Media in North America, which was released DRM free. An Xbox 360 version of the game is expected to be released in 2010


Gameplay

Death Track: Resurrection is set in the future after World War III. The game involves racing and trying to finish first across several tracks located around the world, including Bangkok, Vatican City, London, Moscow, New York, Paris, Prague, San Diego, Istanbul and Tokyo. Players try to earn points by doing various stunts, which can be used for upgrades to cars and weapons. Cars can be equipped with an assortment of weapons, which can be fired at opponents to slow them down and knock them out.

Greed Corp brings a whole new meaning to the words ‘resource management’. Here the resource isn’t gold, or geysers, or forests. It’s the very ground you walk on, each block of which can be mined and drained until it crumbles into the abyss. It’s this that gives the game a unique kind of strategy.

You need resources to build troops and buildings, but the harvesting of those resources limits your tactical options. It’s an inversion of the way classic RTS games play out: instead of slowly getting more powerful over the course of a game, you’re weakening yourself, just to keep up with your opponents. By the end of a match, you’re lucky if there’s more than one or two solitary islands jutting out of the nebulous clouds that blanket the distant ground.

There’s a thick layer of charm to prevent you getting too hung up on the despair of our resource-hungry world, with cute robotic walkers serving as your troops, and scratchy jazz wafting in and out of earshot occasionally as you play. There’s even a day and night cycle, the buildings lighting up as the sun sets.

If it sounds simple, that’s because, on the face of it, Greed Corp is. But the more you play, the more tactics start to emerge, presenting you with the option for short term investment in troops, or long term investment in carriers and cannons. Do you plant a harvester on your opponent’s land to mine him into oblivion, or try to take that land for yourself, to further your economy? And while the campaign is relatively rudimentary, the opportunity for using and abusing these shrewd tactics online against friends or strangers more than justifies the asking price.

Street Fighter IV features models and backgrounds rendered in 3D, the gameplay remains on a traditional 2D plane, with the camera having freedom to move in 3D at certain times during fights, for dramatic effect. Producer Yoshinori Ono has stated that he wanted to keep the game closer to Street Fighter II. A new system called Focus Attacks (Saving Attack for the Japanese version) has been introduced, as well as Ultra Moves. The traditional six-button control scheme returns, with new features and Special Moves integrated into the input system, mixing classic gameplay with additional innovations.

Stephen Kleckner of 1UP.com has stated the game has a similar feel to Super Street Fighter II Turbo, but also has a few features from Street Fighter III 3rd Strike. As in Street Fighter III, throwing is performed by pressing both light attack buttons, while pressing both heavy attack buttons performs the character's personal action or taunt. Pressing both medium attack buttons performs a character's Focus Attack. Dashes and quick standing are also in the game. C. Viper and Dan (with the air taunt) are the only characters who can perform a high jump.

Chronologically set between the Street Fighter II series and the Street Fighter III series, the playable character roster of the arcade version includes the cast of the original Street Fighter II (all twelve characters, including the four Shadaloo Grand Masters) and four new characters. Akuma from Super Street Fighter II Turbo also appears as a hidden playable character, as well as a secret opponent, for a total 17 playable characters. Additionally, the game includes two more secret characters: Seth as the game's standard final boss, and Gouken as a secret opponent, which makes for a total of 19 characters.

New characters

Abel, a French mixed martial artist. He is described as an amnesiac, a "man with no past" looking to defeat surviving members of Shadaloo. He is later revealed to be a prototype of Seth's model.

Crimson Viper, a female American spy wearing sunglasses, leather gloves and a form-fitting suit with weapons she entered the tournament in order to "test".

Rufus, an overweight Kung Fu fighter, who seeks to fight Ken to prove himself as the best fighter in the United States.

El Fuerte (Spanish for "The Strong One"), a Mexican luchador and aspiring gourmet chef.

Seth, also known as "The Puppet Master", is the new boss character. He is the Chief Executive Officer of S.I.N., the weapons division of Shadaloo. His body has been modified using advanced technology. His Special Moves are techniques used by other characters.

Gouken, the elder brother of Akuma, and Ryu and Ken's master, appears in the arcade version as a secret computer-controlled challenger in the end of the single-player mode, making his debut as a fighter in the Street Fighter series.

Gameplay

While a first-person shooter, the game follows the series by including controllable vehicles, including ATVs, APCs, tanks, and helicopters. On foot, players are given access to a variety of real-world small arms such as assault rifles and machine guns; players can jump, crouch, and sprint. They can carry one primary weapon and a pistol in multiplayer, or two primary weapons in single player, as well as grenades and other equipment. Players can fire "from the hip", but zooming in and using the weapon's iron sights, reflex sight, or scope (depending on the weapon) will provide much better accuracy when shooting.

Single player

Bad Company 2 features a story-driven single player campaign. For most of the narrative, the player takes control of Preston Marlowe, one of the members of the titular "Bad Company". The exception to this is the first mission set prior to the rest of the campaign. Each mission is divided into a series of objectives, often interspersed with cut-scenes which simulate the style of films.

Aside from infantry combat, the campaign contains several missions in which the player controls a vehicle, or mans a weapon turret while a team mate controls the vehicle.

While the other members of Bad Company will engage in combat, the game relies upon the player to complete the objectives and kill most of the enemies. The player's allies can never die.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer is class-based, with four classes: Assault, Engineer, Medic, and Recon. Each class has a variety of unique weapons and pieces of equipment, and serves a specific role in combat. There are also some weapons that can be used by any class, such as pistols and shotguns. Each class gains experience and levels up separately.

New items are unlocked by earning experience points, which are gained for performing actions conducive to the goals of the player's team, such as eliminating enemy players, healing team mates, or capturing or defending points of interest. These points also count towards a total of 50 ranks. Bonuses to the base number of points can be awarded under certain circumstances (such as achieving a headshot in the process of eliminating an enemy player).

The multiplayer features 15 vehicles, including new additions, such as the UH-60 Black Hawk, a quad bike, a four-man patrol boat, a personal watercraft, a ZU-23 mounted on a BMD-3 armored personnel carrier, and a UAV helicopter (a Northrop Grumman MQ-8 Fire Scout) controlled via remote computer terminals.

The available maps are set in various environments such as South America and Alaska near the borders of Russia, similar to those seen in the singleplayer.

Players can also use party chat for each game mode. A dog tag system as seen in Battlefield 2142 and Battlefield: Bad Company returns, awarding players with their opponents' dog tags when they defeat them with a knife attack. It uses the PunkBuster anti-cheat program, to protect the game from cheaters in online multiplayer matches.

Turok: EvoIution is a first-person shooter video game developed and published by Acclaim Entertainment. The game was originally released for the Game Boy Advance but then later released for the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox in 2002. A port for the PC was released in 2003 for the European market. It was the last to follow in the series before is was rebooted by a 2008 entry in theTurok video games series, called Turok.

The game begins with the seer, Tarkeen, explaining the history of the Lost Lands which had, for years, been fought over by tyrannic warlords.

On earth during the old west, Tal'Set faces off his enemy, Captain Bruckner and succeeds in cutting off his arm, but both of them are sucked into a wormhole. Tal'Set is nearly killed and the people of the River Village, who found him, call upon Tarkeen to heal him. Tarkeen then commands them to bring Tal'Set to him. He is sent into the jungle and kills enemy factions, lizard-like enemies known as the Sleg, that are close to the Village. Tal'Set hooks up with Genn, a pilot from the Village, who will be guiding him to the seer. Along the way, he uses the Pterosaur to evict the Sleg from the jungle and destroy their air ship.

Tal'Set reaches Tarkeen's sanctum and Tarkeen tells him that it was he who summoned him and that he must accept the mantle of Turok and release Tarkeen from a curse. When Tal'Set refuses, Tarkeen tells him that the Slegs had managed to reach the Village. This enrages Tal'Set which prompts him to cut through the mountains to reach the Sleg base, where they are holding the villagers and the River Village leader, Wise Father. He infiltrated the base and releases the prisoners and then enters the Sleg fortress.

Turok: Evolution features four-player split screen multiplayer. The game features at least 13 multiplayer maps, several of which contain dinosaur AI bots.

Warmonger: Operation Downtown Destruction is a first-person shooter video game developed by NetDevil that uses the Nvidia PhysX engine. It is available as a free download from the official site and from Nvidia via their free GeForce Power Pack download.

 

The game, which is built on the Unreal Engine 3, uses the Nvidia PhysX physics engine. This allows for a destructible environment, as well as advanced cloth and water effects. The PhysX engine allows players to block passages and create new ones, allowing for more realistic gameplay. For example, after entering the upper floor of a building, a sniper can blow up the stairs behind them to block access, but conversely a rocket blast to the wall that is providing cover will leave them vulnerable. The only parts of the environment that cannot be destroyed are core gameplay objects and/or objects that line the borders of a map. However, due to the amount of indestructible terrain, many actions which one might expect to be possible are not.

Warmonger is set in an apocalyptic future during full-scale corporate war within the cities of the US. These once-proud metros have been host to combat operations that have left them abandoned and practically razed. Players play as mercenaries in this war, though there is no storyline to the gameplay.
There are two game modes: "Capture and Hold", where teams vie for control points; and a standard "Team Deathmatch". There are 7 multiplayer maps and a training map.
The game is played online through the GameSpy Comrade gaming service, which is bundled with the game. The game can also be played over a LAN.

Crime Life: Gang Wars tells the story of a dude named Tre. Tre's a new member of the Outlawz, a once-powerful street gang that seems to have fallen on hard times, while its main rival, the Headhunterz, is flourishing. You can tell they're "from tha streetz" by the way they use a "z" instead of an "s" in their names. You'll take on the role of Tre and work on earning some rep in the neighborhood by getting in organized street fights, sticking up jewelry stores, shoplifting, and all types of ill business. 

While the list of options might sound appealing, one is barely different from the next, and the core of the game is a very awful beat-'em-up with a few practically meaningless squad commands that you can use to order your followers around. Sometimes rival gangs will pile up into a mess of swinging limbs and weapons that showcase the game's bad artificial intelligence and ugly animation. Sometimes you'll get to go one-on-one with a guy and witness firsthand the horror of the game's busted fighting system. Regardless of the situation, the gameplay is uniformly bad. You're given two attacks, a block, and a modifier button that lets you use a portion of an easy-to-fill adrenaline meter to bust out special attacks that do more damage. You can press two buttons together to execute a throw, which is funny-looking because the enemies fly away from you as though you were tossing an empty cardboard box. When you've beaten an enemy down to a sufficiently low level, a skull appears over his head.

This is a mission-based game, and as you complete missions, you'll see cutscenes, both prerendered and in-engine, that attempt to move the story along. But you're never given any solid motivation to proceed. The ugly character models look even worse up close, and the prerendered cutscenes don't look much better. The leaders of the rival gang are played by five of the six members of D-12 (Eminem must have been busy recording voice-over for 50 Cent: Bulletproof that afternoon), but you'd be hard pressed to identify most of them, because there isn't much voice from them in the game, and the awful character models don't look anything like the real-life D-12.
